ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research - Host Institute

Nutrihub-TBI, is Hosted at Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR). ICAR-IIMR is a premier agricultural research institute engaged in basic and strategic research on sorghum and other millets under Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

IIMR coordinates and facilitates Millets research at national level through All India Coordinated Research Projects on Millets, Pearl Millet and Small Millets and provides linkages with various national and international agencies.

Equipped with manpower of 48 scientists in 17 disciplines supported by 41 technical, 21 administrative and 27 supporting staff distributed in its main center at Hyderabad, and the two regional stations at Centre on Rabi Sorghum (CRS), Solapur and Off-Season Nursery, (OSN) Warangal.

NIELAN is The Technology Business Incubator “Nesting Incubation and Entrepreneurship for leveraging agri-innovations in Nutri-cereals – hosted by the ICAR – Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), Hyderabad – NIELAN TBI is located in Hyderabad which is culturally cosmopolitan where the highest rate of diabetes is recorded in the country and promotion of millets as functional food will be profoundly welcomed.


The NIELAN TBI has the requisite expertise available in-house in the relevant focal areas of Nutri-cereals and also conducted multiple events ranging from Sensitization Workshops, Boot Camps and Company Management Seminars and trained more than 1000 entrepreneurs. The incubator is well connected with transport and communication system horizontal dissemination of millets promotion and commercialization across the country.

ABI under ICAR (Indian Council for Agriculture Research)


ICAR-IIMR is one of the first institutes under ICAR to be given the Agri business incubator status. The Agribusiness Incubator (ABI) was established in 2016 at ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad as a part of Indian Council of Agricultural Research. ICAR’s initiative of establishing 27 Agri business centers under National Agricultural Innovation Fund (NAIF) across the country in various ICAR institutes, which were granted on competitive program mode. This concept promotes the growth through innovation and applications of technology, support, economic development strategies for Small Business development. ABI will play a role to create a successful viable and free standing business within a certain time frame. The broad objective of ABI at IIMR is to promote knowledge based and innovation driven millets based enterprises.


Technology Business Incubator under DST (Department of Science & Technology) Govt of India


NIELAN-TBI has been recognized by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) as Technology Business Incubator in 2017 and has been given support for next five years. Nutrihub equipped with Primary and secondary processing Infrastructure facilities for entrepreneurs incubated along with 60+ value added technologies for millet value added products backed by extensive research and Centre of Excellence.    




Nutrihub-TBI has been selected as one of the R-ABI’s (Agri Business Incubator) by Department of Agriculture & farmer welfare for its  Innovation& Agri Business Program under RKVY RAFTAAR
